February 2012
Northwest Information Services surveyed Parkrose Staff on Technology use in the classroom. They have compiled the survey results below. There were approximately 180 participants and the results underscore our assumptions that Parkrose School District has a staff wanting to use technology in the classroom as a tool to enhance the education experience.
Technology Survey Results:
1. 95% use technology on a daily basis
2. 60% use both wired and wireless connections
3. 67% do not use Computers on Wheels (mobile laptop cart)
4. 78% have two or fewer computers in their classrooms
5. 80% of responders would like to see greater numbers of PCs in the classroom
6. Only 15% (of 156 responses) use smart boards however; 64% believe them to be an effective teaching tool
7. 81% of respondents are not familiar with “BYOD” (Bring your own device) – as such, nearly 80% answered “Don’t Know” when asked if BYOD would be beneficial
8. 80% of respondents have video surveillance at their location – 92% believe video surveillance is important at all school locations
